With the recent Recreational Cup final featuring both Fife sides Team Fife and Dunfermline with the Glenrothes based side edging out their Dunfermline counterparts, it was the turn of Perth & Kinross Junior boys on Sunday as they too part in the inaugural “Allan Smith Memorial Tournament” in memory of the popular Nuvoc founder member who died earlier this year from pancreatic cancer.
Four junior boys’ teams took part: Nuvoc, Aberdeen, City of Edinburgh and Perth & Kinross.
The P & K side was totally changed from last season with only one team member remaining from the starting six. The novice side opened against Nuvoc who demonstrated their experience by winning two sets to love. P & K then met Aberdeen Blaze and again the northern lights shone to win again by two sets to love. The final match saw P & K pitched against City of Edinburgh and although they played their best volleyball they still went down by two sets to love. The final was competed between Aberdeen and Nuvoc with Nuvoc taking the first set and Aberdeen rallying to take the next two and the Allan Smith trophy.
The P & K Juniors travel to Edinburgh again this coming Sunday as they open the Junior National League fixtures away to City of Edinburgh and Aberdeen Blaze.
